Step-by-Step Guide to the Land Generator in Magic Palette

The Land Generator in Magic Palette allows you to easily generate custom landscapes and level designs with just a few clicks, giving you the power to create diverse environments in without building them on your own. Here’s a step-by-step guide to help you navigate and make the most of this feature.

Access the Land Generator Panel

1. Choose Your Game Genre

Each Generator is designed with a specific style and theme, known as the "Genre" of the map it creates. While the general design is selected in the panel, all generators offer extensive customization options to tailor your map to your liking.

2. Customize the Level Style

Once you’ve selected the map size, you can choose from various "Level Styles" specific to the generator you’re using. Each style offers a unique design, and with one click, you can instantly swap the look of your generated landscape. These styles will replace the blocks in your map with pre-fab themes such as desert, forest, or underwater environments.

3. Adjust Parameters

To customize the generated map, tweak the parameters in the Customize Level panel:

  • Height: Adjust the vertical dimensions of the terrain or structures.

  • Density: Control how densely the structures or rooms are placed within the map.

  • Room Size & Traits: In some generators, you can customize room sizes, hallways, and other features. Play around with these sliders to influence the level's layout.

These options will give you control over the complexity and structure of your map. Each Generator will feature different parameters to work with so try them out and see what they will alter your designs.

4. Generate 3D Minimap

Once you’ve adjusted your parameters, click the Generate 3D Minimap button. This will run the generator with the given settings and display a minimap preview of your level. You can toggle between an isometric or top-down view in the bottom-right corner to see the map from different perspectives.

Check the minimap preview to see if the generated landscape meets your expectations. You can fine-tune the parameters and re-generate as many times as needed until you’re satisfied with the design.

5. Choose the Map Size

Define the size of the space you want to generate. Each Generator features different options when it comes to overall map size. The smallest option is a 1x1 LAND, which consists of 96x96x128 BLOCKs. Depending on the generator you're using, you may also have the option to choose larger sizes, such as 2x1 or 2x2 LANDs, for more expansive levels.

6. Create Land

Once you're happy with the preview, click the Create Land button. This will finalize your map and display it in the main viewport, ready for further customization or export to The Sandbox’s Game Maker.
