The Land Generator in Magic Palette allows for the rapid creation of custom maps with a range of settings to generate unique levels with just a few clicks. The levels are procedurally generated and with customizable options like level height, room size, density, and landscape type you can make them your very own map for your next game. You can easily swap themes, transforming your map from lava fields to underwater temples. The generator also lets you choose between flat or naturally elevated terrains, providing more dynamic environments. Plus, you always have the freedom to fine-tune all the blocks in the Palette Builder later to your liking. Each Land Generator is divided into these options to help you create a generated level design with your very own preferences and appearance:
1️⃣ Game Genre
Choose from different kind of generators with various themes
2️⃣ Level Style
Define the style and look of your generated level with just one click
3️⃣ Customize Parameters
Tweak the parameters of the generator to your liking
4️⃣ Minimap Preview
Here you can see a preview of each generated map
5️⃣ Land Size
Define how large you want your map to be built
6️⃣ Generate Buttons
Generate a preview and the final map
Each Generator is designed with a specific style and theme, known as the "Genre" of the map it creates. While the general design is selected in the panel, all generators offer extensive customization options to tailor your map to your liking.
The Beta version of Magic Palette includes a "Dungeon" Land Generator featuring over 60 different structures, rooms, and hallways, all procedurally connected to create a unique dungeon layout every time. More Generators will be added in future updates!
Each Generator offers multiple "Level Styles" to choose from. With just one click, you can swap all the blocks in your current map to instantly change its look and feel. Each generator includes a variety of these pre-fab styles, allowing you to effortlessly transform your map design. You can still fine-tune and customize the design further using the Palette Builder, swapping out individual blocks as needed.
Choosing the Level Style can only happen after you have populated your Viewport with a generated map. Keep in mind that these styles are specific to their respective generators and won’t apply to imported voxel maps.
The "Customize Level" panel allows you to fine-tune various parameters that shape the outcome of your generated level design. Using sliders, you can adjust settings like level height, density, size, and additional traits specific to each generator. The best way to find your ideal design is to experiment with different options and see which settings give you the desired result.
The "Minimap Preview" panel provides a sneak peek of each generated map before pushing it to the viewport using the "Create Land" button. It shows what to expect from the current level design generated by Magic Palette. You can toggle between isometric and top-down views using the button in the bottom right corner for a better perspective of your map.
Before generating a map, you can define the size of the space it should cover. The smallest option is a 1x1 LAND, with a maximum size of 96x96x128 BLOCKs. While some generators are limited to a single LAND, others allow you to choose from larger sizes for more expansive designs.
